The Good Weather Has Finally Arrived

Driving to work the other week, I was distracted briefly by what I was seeing.

The state of the tide, weather, position of the sun were all in the correct place, including a heron. At this point it was a simple choice, turn around and go home. Go back to work again, only this time with a camera.

I stopped at Derby Castle and went hunting after the heron, who by now had moved on and was a little further out. Fortunately, there was a second heron, standing on an old waste pipe, just waiting for the tide to go out a little further. He was mine, and didn’t seem to mind being photographed, although he was keeping a close eye on me.

What a way to start the day, and does it really matter being a couple of minutes late? As it happened, I was on time, even though I spent about 10 minutes watching nature in all her beauty.

Later that day, as the weather was so good, Mrs A-B suggested going down to Close Sartfield.

After walking the dogs, we drove down arriving as the sun was just starting to dip over the horizon. As it happens, we were not the only ones to be enjoying the sun!

At this point we saw the first swallows of the year. As I said earlier, this was a couple of weeks ago, so it would have been the first week of May.

I think we are going to have a good summer.
